New Patients
-
Appointments with our specialist doctors require a referral from your General Practitioner or non-GP Specialist.
Referrals can be emailed to admin@nqps.com.au or the online referral form can be completed by clicking the link. Your GP may send it directly from their medical software.
Once received, referrals are triaged by our team of specialists to ensure your child is provided with the most appropriate care in a timely fashion.
-
Before your first appointment at NQPS, we will send you a copy of the New Patient Registration Form.
It is very helpful if you complete and return this prior to your appointment. Otherwise, please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment time to complete the paperwork.
A copy of this form can be found via the link.

Contacting Your Specialist
-
The clinic can be contacted during working hours via phone on (07) 44 262 896 or via email at admin@nqps.com.au.
We do not provide an after hours service. If you require urgent care, please attend your closest hospital emergency department.
If you require medical advice from your specialist, please speak with reception staff to arrange a review appointment.
We send copies of all correspondence to your General Practitioner, so in some cases, your GP may also be able to assist.
-
Your specialist may refer your child to have blood tests, medical imaging or other investigations. For patient safety, they will generally advise you to book a follow-up appointment to review the results, which may be in person or via telehealth.
If you haven’t heard from us when you were expecting to, or you have any concerns, please call our clinic to discuss.
-
If your specialist has prescribed your child with a new medication or changed their regular dosage, they may organise a follow up appointment to review. Please ensure you attend this appointment in the recommended time frame.
In most circumstances, clinical review will be required with your specialist prior to providing a repeat prescription.
Please ensure you contact the clinic well before your current script is due to run out. You can phone us on (07) 4426 2896 or via email on admin@nqps.com.au.
Fees for preparing scripts outside of appointment times may apply. If you require a script more urgently, please see your GP in the interim.
-
If you require your specialist to complete any forms, reports, letters of support or assessment summaries for external agencies, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), school or allied health clinicians, please contact the clinic to discuss.
In some circumstances, an appointment may need to be made. There may be a fee associated with preparing documents, depending upon complexity.
Fees, Medicare & Private Health Insurance
-
Our specialists’ fees are determined individually and vary depending upon the services they provide to you on the day.
Fees are reviewed every 6-12 months.
You will be provided with a fee estimate by our clinic prior to your initial appointment.
-
To claim a rebate from Medicare, a valid referral from your GP or non-GP specialist is required. GP referrals are valid for 12 months and non-GP specialist referrals for 3 months.
We offer online Medicare claims which allows Medicare to pay the rebate for your child’s consultation directly into your registered account within 24-48 hours.
Information about claiming and how to register your bank account details with Medicare is available at: http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/subjects/medicare-services#a4.
-
If you have private health insurance, some services provided at this clinic may be covered. The services and extent to which they are covered will depend on your type of cover and policy. Please check with your health fund to be sure of exactly what you are covered for.
Typically, outpatient consultations with a specialist are not covered by private health insurance.
Appointment Cancellation Policy
-
Please provide our clinic with 48 hours notice of any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. This allows our staff to offer those appointments to other patients and families.
Missed appointments or appointments cancelled at short notice may incur a cancellation fee.
Privacy & Feedback
-
Information about you or your child’s medical and family history is needed to provide accurate diagnosis, treatment and to ensure quality health care. We consider patient health information as confidential and will only collect this information with your consent.
-
Comprehensive care often requires full knowledge of patient health information by other health professionals involved in your child’s treatment. For this reason, with your permission, health information may be shared with other health professionals. It is our usual practice to write to your referring doctor after the consultation, and we will also send you a copy of the letter.
Limited information about patients is provided to Medicare and private health funds, for billing and rebate purposes only. We may be legally bound to disclose information, e.g. mandatory reporting of some infectious diseases.
-
You have the right to access your health information. You may wish to view the information or ask for a copy of a part or of the whole record. A small fee may be charged for this service. There may be times when we are unable to provide access, for example, if the privacy of others is affected. You will be advised in this case.
Your child’s right to privacy of their health information might at times restrict access to this information by parents or guardians.
If you find information held is not accurate or complete, you are entitled to have that information corrected.
With your permission, your child’s health information may be made available to another health practitioner.
